The Weekend

Let's begin with views from our windows:

Yes, the last two are repeated...but that is the skyline we see. We can also see the Moselle River...but that wasn't part of the skyline, so I didn't include it here.

Next, Friday night we had a birthday party for John! He turned 24 (also the number of our favorite tv show). Here is a run down of our evening.

We had originally planned to have pizza and go ice skating. So, here is everyone (people are still inside) ordering their pizzas. This is a pretty good pizza place we have found. We are beginning to discover which pizzas are the best. If you come visit and want pizza, we'll be able to make great recommendations.

We brought the pizza back to our apartment to eat them. That is Shaya with the nice smile. This is the Birthday-Boy, John. Little does he know, but he is about to be pleasantly surprised. This is John with his girlfriend Alex (Alexandrine). She was supposed to come visit him on Saturday, but has been secretly planning (with me and David) her early arrival to surprise him on his actual birthday. It worked! He had no idea. I love it.Alex brought a cake! ...and candles. So we hung around for dessert.John made a wish.......and opened a few presents (atomic fireballs and other assorted candies, and a "coupon" to ride Brittney's ripstick for 2 hours!)...Then plans changed. John was so happy that Alex came that he didn't even want to go ice skating anymore, so we decided to watch a movie. That is our bed...we moved it into the living room for extra seating. We had 9 people over! We watched Robin Hood...the Disney cartoon one. It was great.David and I were really tired when everyone left so we decided to just leave our bed in the living room. We fell asleep to the movie Armageddon...In the morning we were talking about the movie...so David got our his calculator and wanted to do math! He determined how much energy the asteroid have as it was coming toward Earth...to determine how much energy it would take to stop it. And he got out the white board to try to explain it to me. What? You don't do that Saturday mornings? (he didn't want me to take his picture though...but I just wanted to make sure that everyone believed me)
Well, that's all folks!

...if something interesting happens on Sunday maybe I'll add it. But I think 12 pictures is a good amount of excitement for one blog. :o)

how the heck would he know how much energy the asteroid had and how much to stop it? did the movie mention that?? what is the answer?

David knows these things because he has equations to figure stuff like that out...he did some initial estimating, but them the equations took over.
